Neosmart is an innovative energy service company which builds and operates local sustainable energy systems in which energy production and usage are continuously being optimized. This is always done in close collaboration with local stakeholders. The energy systems are integrated with buildings or with a built environment (groups of buildings) and aim at optimizing their energy usage. The goal is to do this “clean and smart”. For this reason the majority of the energy systems currently operated by Greenspread contain solar panel systems and heat pump systems supplying sustainable heat to groups of consumers. Greenspread is convinced that increasing the flexibility and levels of interaction of such systems will lead to an increase of sustainability and comfort and to a further reduction of energy usage costs. To develop services for this “smartification” Greenspread has entered the City-zen project (under request of acceptance by the European Commission).

Role in City-zen

Within City-zen Greenspread will test and develop energy services that help consumers make optimal use of their  domestic energy systems containing solar panels and a battery. Besides offering load balancing the available flexibility of the system (being the battery) will also be used for reducing energy costs, taking fluctuating energy prices at the daily energy markets into consideration.
