CCIAG ( Compagnie de chauffage de Grenoble)

Presentation

LOGO COMPAGNIE CHAUFFAGE QuadThe heating company of Grenoble is a French semi-public company jointly owned by Municipalities (majority shareholding) and the firm DALKIA. The COMPAGNIE DE CHAUFFAGE runs the longest French heating network after Paris. Some 100,000 households from six cities are thus supplied with heat that is used for domestic hot water and heating. Since 1960, the CCIA promotes urban development by using local energies and diversifying its fuels. It currently uses six different fuels: household waste, recycled wood, Meat and Bone Meal (MBM), coal, oil and gas. The COMPAGNIE DE CHAUFFAGE can permanently adapt itself to the best economic and environmental conditions.

Role in City-zen

  • The Project

A city operating entirely on clean energy. In theory, it's possible. But in real life? How to integrate new solutions in existing buildings, systems and people's lives? What are the technical, economic or social barriers? And how to overcome these? That's what we've learned by doing in 20 projects in Grenoble and Amsterdam.
